Protein therapeutics have changed medicine. We want to change how they are delivered.
The Problem
Protein Therapeutics have revolutionized medicine.
Protein therapeutics including enzymes, peptides, and antibodies have transformed the treatment of cancer, autoimmune disorders, diabetes, and rare genetic diseases by enabling highly specific and effective treatments that were previously not possible.
As a result, they are almost exclusively injectable.
Monoclonal antibodies, peptides, and protein therapeutics must be delivered via injection to remain effective.
This creates major barriers to care.
Poor patient adherence due to pain, inconvenience, and needle aversion
Limited access for patients without reliable healthcare infrastructure
Repeated clinic or hospital visits that burden both patients and healthcare systems
However, oral delivery of protein therapeutics doesn’t work.
The stomach is designed to break down proteins. Stomach acid and digestive enzymes rapidly degrade biologic drugs before they can reach the lower intestine.
Our Solution
Oral delivery of protein therapeutics—enabled.
Instead of trying to protect therapeutic proteins from degradation, we bypass the problem entirely.
Our platform uses engineered bacteriophages to deliver genetic instructions to resident gut bacteria, enabling them to produce therapeutic proteins directly within the gut.
Therapeutics are generated where they are needed.
By producing therapeutics in the gut, we eliminate exposure to the stomach.
This enables a new class of oral therapies.
Non-invasive, orally administered biologics
Improved patient adherence and experience
Reduced reliance on injections and clinical visits
Scalable, accessible treatment for chronic disease
